Life with the Goody Girls: July 4th Weekend

Our weekend actually started Thursday July 2!

Here's Marie who really killed the boyfriend jean look!

She paired her Boyfriend Jeans with a fitted tank and her skippies

I just went for the casual look in my Chambray dress, black sandals, and wine colored bag

We didn't make it to "Checkers" like we planned but here is Marie at this Thai Restaurant on Smith St.

Here I am at NY Perks after work mixer. We got there around 5:30

3 for 1 drinks. Had to get our money's worth

So Friday I went to Pop Burger for a birthday get together for one of my sorors

The fries were DELICIOSO (a lil spanish for ya'll)

My homegirl ShellyBellyBrownSnuggaMuffin came along with me

The burgers were so tiny but they were juicy!

This was so good!

I didnt' catch her name but she looked really cute!

This is actually July 4th. I took Marie to "Battle of Sparta" a Greek Basketball tournament at JHS 113 in Brooklyn. She looked fab in her high-waisted shorts, skippies and classic white shirt

Later that night I went on the "3-The Hardway BoatRide" sponsored by the Sigmas, Kappas, and Alphas! I had sooooooooooooo much fun!!

Thirsty Thursday: Firecrackers!!

In honor of the 4th of July weekend this weeks Thirsty Thursday drink is the "FireCracker"

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Tequila

Cracked ice

Tonic water

Lime wedge

Pour tequila over the ice in a highball glass. Fill with tonic. Stir and garnish with lime wedge.

Sure it may look like Sprite or 7up or just plain ol' Seltzer but trust me...you will "Explode" when you taste this. When you do explode, make sure you do it gracefully and in style "owww" lol

Memorial Day Weekend 2009 In NYC

Unfortunately, this year we are not taking any trips Memorial Day Weekend :-( No Miami...No Cancun (darn swine flu and kidnappings) and No DR. If you are staying in the city like us, here are a list of events that are going on this weekend.

Dance Africa - We both are dancers and Marie has actually participated in this event before. It is AMAZING!!! Very cultural. The food is great, the performances are great, the atmosphere is just all around great. This is a 4-day event kicking off Friday May 22, 2009 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music

Do you love a man in uniform? Well Fleet Week is for you. From Wednesday May 20, 2009- Wednesday May 27, 2009 Sailors and Marines will be flooding the streets of NY. There are parades, ship tours, and much more. Check out the ships at the South Street Sea Port.

What female doesn't love shopping? Take advantage of the Memorial Day sales at stores like Lohemann's, Macy*s, and the infamous Woodbury Commons

If you are into art check out the Lower Third Avenue Spring Festival Third Avenue between 6th and 14th StreetsWashington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit University Place on Saturday.

On Sunday Livable West Side Festival Broadway from 72nd to 86th StreetsTimes Square Fair 7th Avenue between 47th and 57th StreetsWashington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit University Place

I am definitely going to Dance Africa to see what the street vendors have to offer!

If All else fails, get together with a couple of your friends who didn't travel and have a picnic or BBQ in the park.
