Vixen Icon?

Buffie Caruth AKA Buffie the Body has a new tell all book "Vixen Icon"
I read this little excerpt from http://www.blackvoices.com/

'Vixen Icon,' by Buffie Carruth, better known as "Buffie the Body," starts out with the author's description of life in high school when her booty was, well, less plenteous."I often got depressed because I wasn't thick,'' Carruth writes. "All my life through school, I've noticed that girls had to be cute and pretty, or you had to be fine as hell with some a-- and hips to be an 'in' girl. Even if you didn't have big breasts, it was cool as long as you had some a--. I didn't have any breasts, no a--, and no hips and that s--- made me feel so insecure. I looked like a damn boy!''Not anymore.
It probably won't be as juicy as SuperHead's book or Carmen (Nas' Baby Mother and Jay-Z's ex-something). There's really nothing that Buffie can say that Ms. Steffans (SuperHead) didn't already so its like do we really care about Buffie (which is her real name) and her life as 1 of 7 children growing up in Athens, Georgia who went to some "Special Doctor" (Dr. X) to get the body she is known for?

I'm going to pass on this one...maybe they'll have SparkNotes on it and I'll read the summary *shrugs*

Food For Thought

Actor, comedian and radio-show host Steve Harvey was inspired to write his latest book, 'Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment' following an experience with his daughter's boyfriend.

In his book, Harvey refers to his own real-life experiences, dropping science on everything from how to spot a mama's boy and what, if anything, you can do about it to how to introduce your kids to that new man in your life (and what your kids will tell you about him, which you should listen to). There are also five questions every woman should ask a man to determine how serious he is about her. But more important, Harvey translates for women what men say versus what they really mean.
"Men and women speak a different language," said Harvey. "I just help decode what men are saying so women can understand it."

This should be interesting....and funny

Push

One of my favorite books Push by Sapphire is on its way to the Sundance Film Festival thanks to film director Lee Daniels. Push tells the story of a confused, overweight African-American girl named Clareece "Precious" Jones.Verbally and sexually abused by her family, her troubles lead to problems in school. Precious, as she is known, has no friends, no money, two kids (from her father), and she's illiterate. After being accepted into an alternative school where a teacher helps her find an alternative path in her life. Along her journey, she comes across a concerned social worker and a nurse who shows her much kindness.
The eagerly anticipated film, based on the best-selling book of the same name, boasts an all-star cast including Mo'Nique, Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Kimberly Russell, and Sherri Shepherd of 'The View.'

The Beauty Bible

So whenever we pick up a fashion magazine whether its Essence, Cosmopolitan, Elle, or Glamour, the pages are not just filled with the latest trends and fashions, there is also beauty tips. We want to know how to create smoky eyes [check the post from last week], and how to wear red lipstick (trust me everyone does not know how to do this and not look like Ronald McDonald) well Cosmo has created something I like to call the "Beauty Bible." It’s the ultimate guide to looking gorgeous. Tips on hair, make-up, flawless complexion and a section on what guys say about a woman’s beauty regimen, smoky eyes look more like black eyes…lol…. I think it’s a great buy, especially for the price under $15. It is definitely like a "one stop shop."
